Our First Staycation

Since I didn't have to work today and John has the ability to take off whenever he wants to, we decided to do something extra fun on our day off. We checked into the Talking Stick Resort and Casino in Scottsdale last night.

We had the best time. It was so relaxing and it really did feel like we were on vacation even though it only took twenty five minutes to get to our destination.

Our bed was super comfortable. My head hit the pillow last night and I was out about ten seconds later.

Aw, relaxation...

The view from our balcony...

Our first staycation was awesome. I want to do that again...and again...and again...

It's been a wonderfully fun weekend so far with girl time and laughing; now it's time for a fun staycation with Johnny.

Paid to Swing

I read last night that activities like swinging are great for kids with attention/behavioral needs. Today I went to the playground three times with three different kids to try this out. It was a lot of fun. Lucky for me each kid wanted me to swing with them.

Have I ever told you that I LOVE to swing? I really, really do. It's not a lie.

Coincidences

I love when life throws me some major (at least in my opinion) coincidences. I was thinking about one today. The year that Oprah selected East of Eden as her book for her book club, I joined the band wagon and bought it. I LOVED it. It's still one of my favorite books ever.

The summer I was reading it John and I went to visit my grandmother, Mama T. She was showing us some old pictures. There was a picture of one of her cousins. He was reading. She said that he read constantly. He would often go into his bedroom on a Friday night with a stack of books and read the weekend away.

I was curious to see what he was reading in that picture so I looked really closely. It was East of Eden. Maybe that's not a huge coincidence but I was REALLY excited about it.

update

Have you ever seen the movie under the tuscan sun? I've seen it about 242 times. I love that movie. Well, one of the messages in it is to take even a terrible idea and make it great. That's what I'm trying to do right now.

I've personally just taken on too much this year. I've agreed to do things that I just wasn't ready for so I'm working on making my terrible ideas better....great.

Another thing I've been thinking about is what if my number is going to be up soon. This has helped me keep my focus on what's really important to me. I know that's a little morbid but I guess I am a little morbid.

I hope you have a great Sunday. I'm off to spend time with my little family.

Blind

I think it's a problem that even with my contacts in I have to squint to see things. Today I had my face so close to my computer screen that one of my IA's asked me if I wanted him to make the print bigger.

I was a little embarrassed that I hadn't thought of that myself. Probably because I didn't know that was possible...

Dance of Joy

I went to helpothers.org tonight. They have a "deck of cards" that highlights a deed to do for others. The card I got was to do a dance of joy for someone close to me. I did and John liked it. There's no video but it was short, funny, and left me a little winded.

Maybe I should have warmed up first.
