I almost lost my pants...

I was unsure of some jeans I wanted to buy yesterday at Ann Taylor Loft so after I put them on I walked out of the dressing room to get John's opinion. I went back to the dressing room and my own pants were gone. They weren't in any of the open dressing rooms or the area with the unwanted clothing.

I was trying to find someone to ask about my pants and I saw a worker walking around with them. She had them on a hanger and was trying to find where to hang them. She was really confused at first when I told her she had my pants. I had to explain to her that I had worn them into the store.

Lesson here? Don't wear pants from a certain store and then leave them in the dressing room. Especially at Ann Taylor Loft. They'll try to re-sell them.

I'm definitely a dork...

It's a little blurry but if you look closely at my computer you'll read, "Busy Blogging".

I'm completely aware of how dorky I am. That's the first step of recovery right?

Cooking Withdrawal...

To save time lately we've been eating salad every day. Every week day. Sounds blah, but it's not so bad. We always add something different like chicken, tuna, ground turkey...so it's tasty, just not very imaginative.

I've had no need lately to wear my apron and I love my apron. It has my name on it.

Any suggestions on what I should cook this weekend to quiet my inner chef and give me reason to wear my apron?

These weeds are on my list...

These two bags of weeds were nothing but trouble from the very beginning.

* They were ugly.

* They caused self loathing.

* They made me pull a muscle.

The Wiggle...

I'm still completely hooked on picnik and playing around with pictures. I thought I should at least have a story to go with my picture. So here it is, the wiggle. The music starts playing and I start wiggling. It's my spicy dance move.

Top 10 Monday

The top 10 movies that make me cry like a baby:

10. Switched at Birth-This was a made for tv movie in the early 90's. Part 1 was so sad.

9. Beaches

8. Phenomenon

7. My Girl

6. Marley & Me

5. The Lion King

4. Million Dollar Baby

3. Big Fish-I was ambushed during this movie. I had no idea going into this movie that I would be a little bawl baby while watching it.

2. Steel Magnolias-I have seen this movie so many times I couldn't even make a guess as to how many and I cry uncontrollably every time.

1. Forrest Gump-It turns me into a faucet.

Four. Definitely at four. Right?

Well, we have five.

I have my husband back!

After a visit to the doctor, lots of rest, antibiotics and a chocolate milk shake, John is almost back to his regular self. Yay!

While we were waiting for the doctor to come into the examining room yesterday we heard a lot of cheering outside. The doctor's office was on a street that was used as Barack Obama's route to a high school he was speaking at.

On our way home there were still lots of cops around and some people with signs. One of the signs said:

"Democracy-Yes!
Democrats-No!
Socialism-Hell no!"

I don't really enjoy political arguments so I won't say what I thought about the sign. Just know that I had one of two reactions.

I was playing around on the site Jen showed yesterday, picnik.com. This picture might be more believable if I wasn't wearing suede and John actually had a coat on...

Home with a sick husband...

John has been getting increasingly worse since this weekend but we thought he just had a cold. He's been taking Zicam and drinking a lot of orange juice. Last night he started with the coughing. Every time he coughed it made me nervous because it just didn't sound good.

This morning he felt terrible. He complained he was cold but to me he was a blazing inferno. I took his temperature and it was 102. As soon as it's 8:00am I'm going to make an appointment for him with a doctor.

I haven't seen him this sick since before we were married. It makes me sad to see John feel so badly.

Manic Monday on Tuesday...

I had Monday off for President's Day so yesterday was my first day of the work week. This is what happened right as I was leaving for work...

That's right, coffee on the chest. Fabulous. The coffee stain went well with the big pimple on my forehead.

Kita's Crack...

Probably a very inappropriate title for a post but it's very appropriate in describing how Kita feels about her Busy Bone.

Top 10 Monday...

My sister suggested that my blog today be about the top 10 movies everyone loved but I hated. I tried but couldn't think of any. Unless a movie is gross or filmed in a choppy way, I pretty much like it.

There's movies I loved but others have hated but I couldn't think of ten. So I decided for today, instead of a top ten list I would just list a number one.

The number one movie I loved but most people hated is...

Magnolia

Most people who hated it just couldn't get into the idea of raining frogs. For those people I would suggest watching the movie Crash. It's a similar concept for the more "mainstreamed" movie watcher. Just kidding, Jen. Those last two lines were for you =).

Valentine's Day Recap...

John gave Kita a bone called "Busy Bone" for Valentine's Day and it definitely fit its name. She only stopped chewing when she needed a drink.

Notice how she took her bone with her to the kitchen? She wouldn't leave it for anything.

We went for Valentine lunch at a very exotic eatery...

Ok, so Chili's isn't very exotic but we do love it.

Then we went to see the movie Coraline. We both loved it.

When we left the movie we saw this hottie on the corner and I had to take a video...it probably would have been a little longer but he caught me and thought I was taking his picture.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I have always enjoyed this holiday. I love the chocolate eating, reading and munching on conversation hearts and exchanging Valentine's.

Until my sophomore year of college my Valentine lovin' always came from my mom, sister and grandma. Valentine's Day that year (circa 1997...sheesh) was John's and my 4th date. It was also the first time we exchanged gifts.

I think our first gift exchange was pretty darn cute. John gave me a bouquet of flowers with a Walmart price tag still on it. I gave him a Daffy Duck Pez dispenser.

My Valentines...

Hope your day is fun and full of chocolate! I'm still sick...yippee! Now John has a sore throat...guess we'll be relaxing at home today.

Floss, floss, floss...

In 2005 I had the very unpleasant experience of having a crown put on. It was unpleasant both physically and financially.

So I developed a plan for myself. As long as I brush and floss every day and have my dental appointments twice a year, I'll never have problems again. Ha!

Well...I haven't exactly been perfect with my plan. Lately I've only been flossing about 50% of the time. Dental karma finally caught up with me because now I have a cavity. Yuck! It's going to be over a hundred dollars to get it filled. Double yuck!

I don't mind flossing. It's the every single day for-eeee-vvv-eeerrr that gets me. Would dentures really be that bad?

What to do...

I still have a cold. I have a dental appointment this afternoon but I'm not sure if I should still go.

1. They might not be too happy having to get that close to a sicky.

2. It would be really unfortunate if while my teeth are being cleaned I have a sudden sneeze attack...

Maybe I should call and ask what they think...

The following video is totally unrelated to the dentist dilemma but when you have a few minutes you should definitely watch it. My aunt sent it to us. It blew my mind a little.

Pheww...I made it through the day!

I dragged myself to work again yesterday...stuffed up nose and all. I figure, as long as I'm not running a temperature, tossing my cookies, or losing a limb, I can go to work.

Here's a pretty close picture to how I actually looked...

I'm off for another day. Woot woot. Hopefully I'll make it through without being coughed on in the face like I was yesterday.

Time for Whine...

I have the Rhinovirus (a cold). I don't like it. I can't breathe and my throat hurts so it really hurts when I sneeze. I also sound hoarse.

I sound hoarse...not sexy hoarse.

It's ok if you want to feel sorry for me.

Top 10 Monday...

The top 10 books I've ever read:
(Thanks for the suggestion John!)

10. Wicked by Gregory Maguire. I love "The Wizard of Oz" and I loved reading about the Wicked Witch of the West!

9. She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb. This character was extremely messed up but I loved her none the less.

8. The Thread That Runs so True by Jesse Stuart. John's grandma gave me this book. I think any teacher should read it. It's very inspiring!

7. The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac. After reading this book I started eating more natural snacks and drinking more red wine.

6. Tao Te Ching, from the teachings of Lao Tsu.

5. The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. I unlike a lot of people, wasn't required to read this in high school so I read it ten years after high school.

4. Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. I read this when I was a kid. My mom gave it to me.

3. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, another book given to me by my mom. Most of it we read together.

2. East of Eden by John Steinbeck. I couldn't put the book down until I had finished it. I finished reading it in Natchez, Mississippi, when I was on a trip with Mom and Jen in the summer of 2003.

1. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I read it when I was in high school and again as an adult. I know I'll be reading it a few mores times...

I'm currently reading The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski. Maybe this book will knock one of the other books off of the list...

Maybe It's Just Me...

Caution...don't look at the second picture yet...please.

Every time I walk past this portrait of Paul Revere in the hallway of my school, I think he looks just like someone else...let's see if you think the same thing. Look carefully at this picture and think about who you think he looks like...

Did you think Jack Black because I sure did!

Am I crazy or does the portrait of Paul Revere look like Jack Black posing in clothes from the 1700's?

Funny Quote of the Week...

A little girl in kindergarten looked over at a teacher wearing a cropped jacket and then said to me,"Why is she wearing that jacket? It's too small for her."

So Sweet...

Last night when I was about to end my conversation with my 4 year old niece, I asked her if there was anything she wanted me to tell my husband. I was hoping for something a little silly because the girl is funny!

She said,"Tell him I love him and I want him to come see me."

That was so much better than silliness.

Just because it's cute, here's a picture of the girls playing "Worms"...they're the worms...

Saying Goodbye to Another Great Fish...

About a month ago our goldfish Gus died and on Tuesday night we lost Goldie (our black and white fish). The only one left now is Rocky, our Sucker fish. We bought him to clean up after the other two. He's out of a job.

Gus and Goldie became our fish in the summer of 2004 and Rocky shortly after.

In May 2005 we almost lost Goldie. We were staying with my aunt and uncle for a couple of days before we moved to Arizona. We were all packed up and had the fish in an ice chest with a portable motor attached.

While we were running last minute "moving" errands Goldie escaped the confines of the ice chest and landed on the floor of my aunt and uncle's laundry room.

My uncle had gone back into the house to get something and there lay Goldie flapping around with Maggie (their curious dog) sniffing at it. Apparently that wasn't her day to go.

We'll miss you Gus and Goldie...so will Rocky but for different reasons.

I Think I Need a Hobby...

If you've been reading my blog since December, you remember that I won a picture frame as a raffle prize.

You'll also remember that my good friend thought it would be funny to take a picture of me holding my frame and then frame that picture. Well, it's been taken one step further...

Yes, that's right...a picture of me holding my frame with a picture inside of me holding my frame. Will I frame this picture too? Maybe.

Christmas in January...

My in laws came to celebrate a late Christmas with us.

Here's Greg checking out his new book, "A Guy Walks Into a Bar..."

I love my new red shirt!

Great picture you guys! Kita looks a little freaky though...

Pat and Greg are perfect house guests because they are very cool and they bring their own house with them...

They are also cool because they like to hang out and relax. They were even up for some Super Bowl watching with us...

Too bad our team lost.

They leave for home tomorrow. We're going to miss them very much! They are so fun and easy to be around. I'm also so so happy that I feel that way. It could be much different...

Top 10 Monday

Top 10 Things People Say that Annoy Me:
(As suggested by my sister-Thanks J!)

10. When people tell me I look like Jessica Biel...Ok, if that really happened it wouldn't be annoying at all.

9. It is what it is...It's just too over used.

8. Giving 110%...Again, just over used.

7. When people talk about how good they are at something...No need to do that.

6. Git er done...What!?!

5. Using "pop" to describe something...For example,"That color really makes the room pop." Ahhhhhh...like nails on a chalkboard!

4. When people say something like,"I want you to go to the movies with my friend and I tonight." It makes me want to scream,"Me! You would say come to the movies with my friend and ME tonight!"

3. Thinking outside of the box...So cheesy!

2. Pretty much anything Dr. Phil says.

1. Any reference to getting rid of bodily waste...It's just gross.

I still think it's gross to talk about waste elimination but this scene in "The House Bunny" is so funny.

The Most Photogenic Dog in the World...

I don't think anyone could argue that Kita is one photogenic dog. Look at her! She's smiling! My husband took this picture while we were waiting for our ride to "The Lion King".

If someone was in the house five minutes after this picture was taken they would have taken a picture of Kita without her smile. She gets very sad when we're away. Poor Kita.

Depressed dog humor...
