Alpha Dog

While I was loading my car tonight Cujo gave me and the other Wal-Mart customers a firm barking to. Yeah, I just wrote that...a firm barking to. I think my brain is already tired this week.

By the way, I watched Hot Tub Time Machine this weekend and I laughed my booty off. You'll like it too if you're a fan of movies like Pineapple Express, I Love You Man, Super Bad, The Hangover or any comedy that doesn't have a PG-13 rating.

Friday...

Ah...it's finally here. Hooray. Hooray. I have big goals for this weekend. My goals are to finish a lot of homework and to watch Hot Tub Time Machine. Tell me this doesn't look funny.

Have a great weekend.

Bath Robe Betty

I think my sister and maybe my mom are the only ones of my readers who have seen Bath Robe Betty in person. I LOVE her. BRB will be around until she becomes nothing but rags.

Um, do I have a bald spot?

The Eyes of Buddha...

That's the name of this painting. This is hanging over our bed. Just kidding. It's in our hallway.

John's little brother painted the Buddha Eyes for his birthday a couple of years ago and I really do like it...I just couldn't go to sleep with it in the same room.

Darn Benadryl....

On Sunday night I had big plans of hanging out with John. However, Benadryl had other plans. Here he is pretending to take a snooze on the Snooze sofa.

Here he is five minutes later. There's no pretending in this picture.

I then took a picture to document what time Benadryl took John away from me. It's hard to tell but it's 7:55 pm. Do they make a non-drowsy version I'm unaware of?

A Different Kind of Weekend

Two weekends ago was the fabulous action packed weekend which included a fancy dinner, baby shower, Pizzeria Bianco and Alice in Wonderland. Last weekend was the Texas trip which included the beautiful wedding and Miss Eliza's birthday party.

This weekend included a whole bunch of homework for me...

and a whole bunch of much needed home projects for John...

It wasn't an exciting weekend but it was definitely a necessary one. I just hope it doesn't have to be repeated too soon because I prefer the other kinds of weekends.

Giving Up

What if we stop having a ball?
What if the paint chips from the wall?

What if there's always cups in the sink?

What if I'm not what you think...

I am?

What if I fall further than you?
What if you dream of someone new?
What if I never let you win, chase you with a rolling pin?
Well what if I do?

Giving Up, by Ingrid Michaelson...you know she's one of my favorites. I've listened to this song approximately 3200 times. I don't grow tired of it. When I first heard it I thought it was about one thing but then after I listened to it some more I realized I had been mistaken.

You've most likely listened to it before but here it is just in case you haven't.

I love this part too...

What if you lose yourself sometimes?
Then I'll be the one to find you
Safe in my heart

A Skyping Success

We had our Skype date with Danielle and Max. They looked bigger than life.

Isn't Skype amazing? It makes us forget for just a second that we've never gotten to hold Max in real life or give his mama a congratulations hug. That sad state of affairs will be remedied in just a month. We're ready.

Skype Ready...

We're on, we're excited, we're waiting...

I hope our Skype date (John's sister) gets on soon or I'll be forced to take more weird pictures of myself.

Mary Deen...

That's what John called me yesterday. It's after my new favorite, Paula Deen. Isn't she awesome? I love how she tastes everything she makes and is so enamored by it.

I cooked a recipe from her site on Tuesday. It's called Walk Away Baked Spaghetti. I think it's named that because you have to walk away from the serving dish or you'll just sit there and eat all of it. It was so very yummy.

If you would like to make it too, click here.

St. Patrick's Day Wishes...

Personalize funny videos and birthday eCards at JibJab!

Per request....more pictures

Here you go girls, more pictures from the weekend. :)

I really didn't take all that many pictures but here's some for your entertainment. This one was taken shortly after Jen and her family got to my mom's house. It was before we all got fancy for the wedding.

Here's some fanciness. Don't they all look like they're really concentrating?

I already showed you the one picture I have of us from the wedding. Here's one from Eliza's birthday party. We're waiting on the food. I apologize for there being so much glare in this picture...especially from my face.

Here's the birthday girl. Doesn't she look so happy?

This picture was taken about five seconds later. Grammy pinched her. Just kidding. Someone from across the street had started the lawn mower. The girl does not like loud noises.

Grammy is trying to console her with a kiss. Nice try Grammy.

Then we all started singing the Happy Birthday song to her again. That seemed to do it...

A Wedding-Birthday Weekend

John and I got home last night from a fast and furious trip to Texas. Our cousin tied the knot and our niece turned two years old. It was definitely a celebratory weekend.

I didn't take a lot of pictures...boo. This is the only one of us from the wedding. At least the only one from our camera.

I was so happy we got to go see David get married. I was afraid the old ball and chain wouldn't let me go. I'm not referring to John right now. In this case graduate school is definitely the ball...and the chain.

However, luck finally has worked out in my favor and I'm on spring break this week. So that meant the wedding/toddler birthday weekend was a go. Yay.

Pizzeria Bianco

Ah, the famous Pizzeria Bianco. It was definitely more than just a place to eat pizza. It was an experience for sure.

Our experience started with joining our friend Blaine in line half an hour before it opened. He had gotten in line for us an hour and a half before it opened. Three of us jumping in line with him elicited the stink eye from a couple a few spots behind us. It looked like they wanted to throw down.

Here we are in line before it opened.

Here we are after it opened. This isn't our table. This is where we waited an additional two hours for our table. We knew the wait would be very, very long so we were prepared. Our group was very entertaining and the time went by fast.

Guess what we found when we got to our table? Something so exciting. Egg art. Hot dang.

Soon after the egg art excitement our table was able to enjoy the excitement of it finally being pizza time.

Pizzeria Bianco is a very unique place and I'll remember the experience forever. However, there's a lot of places with great pizza that don't require hours and hours of your time. So here's the million dollar question: Is Pizzeria Bianco worth the wait? Absolutely...once.

The fruits of my procrastination...

That's what this blog post is. I need to start getting oriented for the upcoming week but I just don't wanna. So instead I will let you know about my weekend. It's been a fabulous one.

Let's start with Friday. John and I went out on our date to our fancy restaurant. I'm sorry I don't have pictures but after being shown to our table and having my napkin placed in my lap by the host, it just didn't seem appropriate.

On Saturday I got to go to my friend Amy's baby shower at none other than Natalie's (A Beagle and a Baby). It was a great shower. I'm not just saying that because Natalie will be reading this. I mean really, the girl can host and the food was excellent.

Then on Saturday night we tried out the famous Pizzeria Bianco with some of our great friends. This is the place that's been featured on Oprah as the best pizza in the U.S. and I think it's been featured on the Food Network too. I'll do another post giving you the full details on our Pizzeria Bianco experience.

Today, John and I went to see Alice in Wonderland. See I told you, a fabulous weekend. Now I'm at the end of my post. Ugh. I guess I'll get busy.

Date Night and Weird Belly Buttons

Hola. My interview went as well as I expected it would. My thoughts were completely jumbled and even I couldn't understand my points. Maybe I need speech therapy. Natalie, do you do pro bono?

Tonight Johnny John and I are going out on the town. We have reservations for dinner. Hmmm...a place that requires reservations...maybe I should stop blogging and change into something a little nicer than jeans and my five dollar top from Kohl's.

Now about the weird belly buttons. I totally have one. I haven't always had one but ever since my surgery in January it's felt a little strange. I thought it was scar tissue and I was relieved that each week it was getting better.

However, yesterday it felt pretty tender in the belly area so I felt around and it feels really freaky. I'm afraid to call the doctor because I think it's probably very normal. I will probably google it. Do ya'll know anything about scar tissue and how long it hangs around?

I'm off to go primp for my date. I'll take the camera tonight so I can start including pictures again.

Have a fabulous weekend.

Interview...

A PhD student is interviewing me tomorrow to find out how the Masters program is affecting my teaching. I hope I don't say anything stupid.
