Fit Friday

Keeping up with nutrition and fitness on vacation...is it possible?

Next week is our first time in Hawaii and our first big vacation since we've adopted a healthy lifestyle. We'll be gone for a full week.

While I don't want to feel deprived of all the goodness we'll be exposed to, I also don't want to come home with 5+ pounds of Hawaiian lovin that will most definitely accumulate around my belly. I'm already having to deal with Lester's damage...I don't want Hawaii's too.

John's plan: Be active every day and eat, drink whatever he feels like.

My plan: Be active every day and eat, drink whatever I feel like in moderation...except on Saturday (calorie day).

I hope our bodies cooperate with our plans. If they don't I suppose that's part of the fun of vacation.

The weekend is here...yay!!! We're off to Tucson later today to spend the 4th (and my birthday) with friends.

Hope you all have a very happy and safe 4th of July!

Five years ago I was a South Beach Diet disciple. I lost over 40 lbs. I was smokin' hot. Then I went to Maui and thought, 'I am on vacation, I can have whatever I want.' Needless to say I never got back to where I was after that vacation. Don't be like me! Enjoy yourself, but like you said, all in moderation. Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I always used to be jealous of your birthday on the fourth. You always got a pool party and homemade ice cream. :)

When we went to Costa Rica for two weeks, I came back 5 pounds lighter. Between the fresh seafood and endless moving around/exercising, you'll be fine. ;-)
